Murdoch James Estate is one of Martinboroughs pioneering wine producers. It was established over twenty years ago when Roger and Jill Fraser first planted Pinot Noir and Syrah on the river-stone terraces, with the focus on producing wines of distinction. Murdoch James wines are named in memory of founder Roger Fraser's father. Today, Roger's son Carl Fraser is a winemaker.
The lime based soils of their Blue Rock Vineyard allow Murdoch James Estate to create white wines that combine vibrant fruit flavours with a long, lingering minerality, and red wines of complexity and character.
True to their terroir, the wines of Murdoch James Martinborough are rich in flavour and elegant in structure.
Light peach and salmon rose hues with aromas of sweet yellow and red cherry with strawberry and raspberry highlights; simple, delicate, fruity. On the palate a dryer style with plenty of lush salivating acidity and red fruit flavours to match; a beautifully balanced crowd pleasing style yum!
Blended from a selection of wine from mature oak barrels, this Pinot Noir displays soft and savoury complexities that are ready to enjoy right now. A secret garden of summer orchard cherries, with childhood memories of kicking up golden autumn leaves. Silky, vibrant and lingering.
Double Gold in London 2016 Decanter & IWC
"Hand-picked, hand sorted, hand-plunged. At Murdoch James, you won’t find machine harvesters or trucks delivering the fruit. We use oak barrels, and we fine the traditional way using egg whites. Our philosophy is simple, respect the old ways and use the hands to create smooth textured wines with a sense of place". Winemaker Carl Fraser
