Mystree Estate grows 2000 Chardonnay vines, on the valley floor adjacent to Dry River, south of the Martinborough town centre.
The small number of vines allows them to intensively manage the block to achieve optimum fruit yield and ripeness by hand pruning, picking and sorting. Minimum intervention is their wine making ethos, letting the fruit and terroir speak for itself.
Our Vineyard on Dry River Road is about 14Km from Martinborough Wine Village at the base of a valley with the road and the river being our boundaries.
After careful consideration of alternative grapes we decided to plant 2000 chardonnay vines – because we enjoy drinking it.
The small numbers of trees and vines allows intensive management, picking and pruning are done manually and no herbicides are used on the block.
In the winery our philosophy is “less is more”. We focus on light pressing of the fruit to extract only the finest juice, and apart from small quantities of sulphite, an essential preservative, we add no sugar, chemicals or enzymes to our wine.
