The 2011 vintage was great for this vineyard with the grapes being harvested for Stampede in the second week of May. The ideal combination of moderate brix (22.5 average) and long maturation on the vine presents a full and powerful wine with high volumes of ripe tannin and restrained alcohol. This wine will drink well over the next 5 years at least with significant likelihood of increased complexity over a greater period.
They recommend Stampede for those that love their full-bodied reds and unique wines of interest. With food, Stampede is an especially suitable accompaniment to any prime steak cuts, stews, osso bucco and ragu, or simply a plate of black olives.
