With just 800 vines of the outstanding Bordeaux Clone 481 in their vineyard, production is naturally limited to a maximum of around 85 cases per year dependent on climatic conditions.
The Alexander Merlot is subtly restrained on the nose with well-concentrated and elegantly packed aromas of ripe blackberries, black plums, spice and cedar. The palate has real power with a sweetly-rich, well-balanced and sustained finish of black fruits with cassis, dark chocolate, liquorice and toasty oak nuances echoing its’ Bordeaux heritage.
Aged in French oak, 33% new, this young but outstanding wine will benefit from cellaring for up to ten years.
Serve with roast beef, hearty casseroles and a surprisingly great accompaniment to a dark chocolate tart.
