WAIHONGA - In Te Reo Maori translates to nectar. The 2022 Waihonga is a tiny batch and really wild wine.
FRUIT - The Pinot Gris comes from Hamden Estate and was quite ripe at harvest, Hamden Estate Vineyard, Dry River Road, Martinborough | Harvested March 16, 2022
86% Pinot Gris, 14% Riesling | Alc. 12.8% | 361 bottles
WINEMAKING - It was fermented whole cluster with a carbonic start and kept on skins for 14 days. A small amount of Riesling has been blended into this wine.
NOSE & PALATE - The wine is the colour of honey and smells like cinnamon rolls and roasted pineapple with orange zest and butter. A really generous fat palate with a lovely gentle spice and ripe peach vibes.
ENJOY - Slightly chilled.
