Tangent by Alexia Wairarapa Gamay

TANGENT; from the Latin word ‘tangere’ meaning to touch. In geometry the tangent is a line that just touches a curve. In life, a tangent is a different line of thought or action.

The Gamay is from 12-year-old bush vines pulled up onto wires for the first time for the 2019 vintage.

The wine that brought us to our knees. Broken after days on end of picks, hauling and shoveling - two of us crawled along the rows on hands and knees to pick the grapes for this special little wine – only 250 bottles made!

Handpicked, 100% whole bunch, part carbonic fermentation, aged in neutral oak for 9 months.

Key Notes: Raspberry, char, spice, elusive.
