The flagship wine of Muirlea Rise is known simply as Après. It is a fortified wine consisting of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% of Mad Red. Shawn said the production plays with the notion of the solera system used to make sherry though the outcome is much more like port. He produces only 3 barrels at a time and a little bit of older vintages are left in the barrels after bottling. The alcohol contect tends to be between 16-18% and the flavors are much like amarone. Dried fruit, brambly tannins, juicy and unctuous.
