Coney Wines 'Ragtime' Riesling 2023

Riesling, says history, has been recognised as a top quality varietal since the Middles Ages.  We’ll settle for the last 20 years.  And the best expression of riesling is dry, but most NZ palates still prefer some residual sweetness.  That is not a problem because with a long slow ripening period (weather gods permitting) you obtain maximum flavour while still maintaining nice acidity at most sweetness levels from 5 - 40 g/L.  Ragtime sits comfortably at around 12-15 g/L which gives it off dry status.

The 2023 vintage has a nice soft texture with the customary floral/honeyed nose and the usual tart/taut acid attack. Yum. Coneys tasting panel went for grapefruit as the dominant flavour. Citrus anyway.
