A Representation of Riesling

No other variety demonstrates a commitment to fruit purity quite like Riesling. The decision of when to pick can be fraught with second-guessing, inclement weather, and the challenge of seeing through a kaleidoscope of flavours and textures. Martinborough is blessed with three outstanding producers who have successfully negotiated these slings and arrows to craft superlative styles over the past two decades.

We have put together a six-bottle case featuring three bottles of the 2025 Kusuda Riesling (Dry), with its precise, layered flavours, crisp and vibrant acidity, and a whispered kiss of sweetness. A bottle of the late-harvest style is included as one to cellar and bring out when dear friends come calling.

To this we have added a Dry River Riesling, which is fitting as it rightfully holds its place as the original Martinborough Riesling producer. We also note that Dr Neill McCallum has returned to Dry River after 14 years, bringing valuable historical perspective to the winery’s future. Completing the selection is a Craggy Range Riesling from the Te Muna block, a relative newcomer that has consistently met its quality and value ambitions.

I would age these wines for the medium term, then wait for dear friends to visit on a day in late February. Gather an ice bucket and spend an afternoon laughing, arguing, and telling stories on a shaded deck while the day slowly ebbs into night.

This six-pack is offered, for a very limited time and in limited quantities, at NZD $499, plus freight within New Zealand.

We're happy to store six-packs in a secure, temperature-stable facility used by many Martinborough winemakers for clients who would prefer to collect their case at their leisure. Storage costs NZD $28 per month, payable on collection from Martinborough Wine Merchants. Please provide seven days' prior notice before collection.
