Alexia Lagrien 2025 – Lagrien is a Northern Italian variety – it has a wild and slightly feral streak. Think dark fruits, fresh acid and tannin like an external earthquake-proof steel framework. All this means is that a quick decant after a couple of years aging, then pair with foods that can handle a little muscle. I tasted this from barrel just prior to it being bottled – absolutely loved it. Dominant fruit fruit expression, lovely tannin over a bed of black fruits, black tea and preserved cherries. Oh My. It’s no Pinot, but its Pinots’ rapscallion cousin; vibrant, edgy and a whole lot of fun.
