Tiwaiwaka Wines is a partnership between Morton and Elise Anderson, who are committed to making handcrafted, premium, award-winning wines. Tiwaiwaka is the Maori word for fantail, and this image appears on their wine labels.
Known as 'quintessential Martinborough boutique', everything is hands on, from the viticulture to the winemaking. The fruit is grown on just two five acre vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace. The vines have been closely planted so they are low yielding and on a trellis system to maximize the warmth from the ground. Regular plunging during fermentation with extended maturation and gentle basket pressing produces wines with great depth of character, full expression of the fruit, which are smooth on the palate.
